Geronimo “Momo” Gonzales has arguably the best defense in the World Padel Tour.
And when asked whether players should choose a racket to accentuate their strengths or ameliorate their weaknesses, Momo replied, I think it’s better to “find your virtues, and improve them.” We agree.
2023 marks the second year of the Momo X Puma collaboration, and while the SolarATTACK is still a maneuverable, control and defense-oriented racket, there are some minor changes we’d like to highlight in the 2023 version:
- Still very much a round shape, but a little less circular, slightly closer to a teardrop than last year
- Slightly harder than last year, but still a medium-soft touch
- Roughness was added to the racket face at Momo’s request
Our reviewers were all surprised at how well this racket operated at high speeds despite being its softness.
It doesn’t lose control at higher speeds like many rackets with soft touch do.
Its low balance also makes it very easy to use, and probably part of the reason Momo has been able to pull off so many amazing “tweeners”.
Curiously, multiple reviewers also noted how comfortable the wrist strap is.
“I don’t recommend this racket for someone like Arturo Coello who smashes all the balls out of the court from behind the line, but to someone looking for control and to generate long points with lobs, chiquitas and precision.” - Momo about his racket
Round, lightweight and low balance, which suits my style of play. This year’s model (2023) is slightly harder than last year’s and has a little bit more weight at the head than the 2022 model.
Maybe the most comfortable racket I’ve ever played with. Massive sweet spot, super maneuverable. Easy to play with.
Recommended for all levels of players seeking maneuverability. You’ll find what you’re looking for in this racket, playing slowly, playing fast, playing with touch, using the opponent’s speed against them. With its great maneuverability and ball output, its very versatile.
