How Does the Siux Electra Pro ST3 perform?

As with the change from the ST1 to the ST2, Franco Stupaczuk's Siux Electra ST3 Pro is a step change from the previous model.

Construction and Feel

The ST3 Pro features Siux's new EVA Hard core, marking a departure from the medium-soft feel of the ST2. This update results in a medium-hard touch . The change in core composition is immediately noticeable, providing a more solid feel upon ball contact.

Weight and Balance

Test models varied in weight from 355g to 370g, with balance points between 26.5-27cm. This high balance point contributes to an excellent leverage effect, particularly beneficial for overhead shots. Despite the head-heavy design, the racket somehow remains surprisingly maneuverable.
The 13.5cm handle provides a comfortable grip, though some players may find the end of the handle less than ideal. Another small addition to the ST3 is the new padded, cuffed wrist strap.

Power and Control

The ST3 Pro shines in its versatility - with a focus on control . The harder core allows for higher performance at higher ball speeds, for example at the net where players can apply pressure and add weight to their shots with ease. Flat smashes are solid, but it's in the kick smashes where this racket truly excels – generating spin feels effortless and intuitive.

Spin and Touch

The racket's surface has a strong sandpaper texture, which grips the ball exceptionally well. This feature is particularly noticeable in bajadas and kick smashes, where the ball seems to adhere to the face like velcro, allowing for precise spin control.

Sweet Spot and Forgiveness

While the sweet spot is described as medium-sized, it is definitely smaller than the ST2's. This reduction in the optimal hitting area demands more accuracy from the player, especially during fast exchanges or when attempting blocks. Off-center hits can result in unfavorable feedback, which our testers noticed most during bandejas.

Maneuverability

Despite its high balance point, the ST3 Pro is relatively easy to maneuver. This agility, combined with its solid feel, prevents the racket from turning in the hand upon impact – a crucial factor during intense rallies.

Stroke-Specific Performance

Volleys: The increased hardness of the ST3 Pro translates to improved performance in volleys. Players will find it easier to apply pressure and inject pace into their shots at the net.
Smashes: Both flat and topspin smashes benefit from the racket's design. The high balance and harder core contribute to phenomenal power and control in overhead shots.
Bandejas and Víboras: Players report excellent control in defensive shots like bandejas, though the smaller sweet spot requires precise contact. The racket's high balance is particularly noticeable in víboras, helping to generate more weight on the ball.
Rulos: The high balance point is very evident in topspin overheads, providing extra pop on the ball.

Comparison to Previous Models

The ST3 Pro represents a significant increase in technicality over its predecessors in terms of control. While it sacrifices some of the forgiveness found in the softer ST2, it gains in predictability and performance at higher speeds. The trade-off is a slight decrease in feel during slower exchanges, which may affect players who rely heavily on touch play.

Conclusion

The Siux Electra ST3 Pro is a versatile padel racket that caters to players seeking a balance of power, control, and maneuverability. Its medium-hard feel and excellent spin capabilities make it particularly well-suited for high-intermediate players who would like to exploit their opponents with varied shot selection.
While the smaller sweet spot and harder feel may require an adjustment period for some players, the benefits in terms of control and power generation are significant. The ST3 Pro excels in most aspects of the game, from precise drop shots to powerful smashes, making it a strong contender for one of the top padel rackets of the year.
Players transitioning from softer rackets should be prepared for a slight learning curve, particularly in touch plays and off-center hits.

It has a pleasant feel that we would also define as medium, tending towards hard - harder than the 2023 ST2. This will give it a bit more power, though we believe it is much more oriented towards control.

This is going to be one of my top palas of the year because its very versatile and great at the net. I like this year's update to this racket a lot more than previous models - it's a lot easier to control the ball with it. Medium-hard touch. Test model weighs 369g and balances at 27cm. 13.5cm handle.

The ST3 has Siux's new EVA Hard this year - which creates the main difference between the ST2 and this year's ST3 - the new model is medium-hard, compared to the medium-soft of last year's ST2. New padded, cuffed wrist strap. Test model weighs 363g and balances at 26.7cm.

A more rigid update to the ST2, slightly harder than a medium. Easier to maneuver than the ST2. I don't like the ShockOut grip. Test model weighs 355g and balances at 27cm.
