Expert Reviews of the Kuikma PR990 Hybrid Soft
For the price, it’s super recommendable for those who seek a multi purpose racket that behaves well in everything without standing out in anything specific, but helps in defense and has good handling.
At high speeds, things can get a little out of control, and we can easily send a ball or two into the wall because at high speeds the balls come out a lot like a slingshot. Finishes are where this racket sins the most with the rubber that absorbs a lot and has a round shape.
I felt very good at the net, the racket has really good touch at the front of the court.
When you play at low speed, its large sweet spot make you feel very comfortable, its very hard to hit outside of the sweet spot.
Less technical than the Hybrid Hard, this racket suit amateur players looking for a maneuverable, comfortable, control racket.
In smashes. there is not much ball exit, especially outside of the sweet spot.
In the back of the court, I felt very comfortable with this racket. It doesn’t have a massive ball exit, just enough to get you out of trouble. Very maneuverable for fast shots.
In the aerial game, this racket is very easy to play with, this is where I felt the most comfortable. It is easy to put the ball where you want and accelerate or decelerate it.
The ball tends to die if you mishit.
Kuikma's PR990 offers the best price quality ratio I've ever seen - this version suits players at all levels looking for a medium touch racket with control and where power isn't so important
I didn’t have good feelings in the finish with this racket. It doesn’t have power and in the X3 for example, it doesn’t work so well, not easy to put spin and the racket absorbs the ball a bit. That day I had rain and heavy balls.
In the middle of the court, I had contradictory feelings, if you hit a slower bandeja, or vibora the ball exit can be more than you expect can help you hit deeper with control. OK in strong shots.
In the back of the court, it's an easy, comfortable racket - you dont need much effort to play with it with slow speeds because it has very good ball exit and a big sweet spot.
Best buy for a right side or conservative player looking for control and easy handling with medium touch.
On the smashes, I struggled a lot with this racket - I noticed a lack of power. The flat smash can be challenging, but I found the kick smash to come more easily. I liked it more on bandejas and viboras where its combination of soft shot sensitivity and not reactive winds up being quite pleasant.
Despite the name, the touch is more medium than soft, which I appreciate as pleasant because I generally prefer hard rackets for their consistency. But on hard hits, the core can retain the ball a bit more, so you can have a slightly delayed exit compared to the PR990 Hybrid Hard. However this behavior could be useful for right side, conservative, control-oriented players. When I play aggressively though, I must say it reacts with a good level of comfort and control.
