đź”” Review of 2024 model: Metheora Dual 2024.
Starvie released the new “Dual” core in 2023 with its only offering under the Metheora Warrior model.
Starvie has released little information about the technology, but judging from the way it plays and the visual cues, the external layer is lower density than the internal layer and the layers are similar in depth.
Note that the dual-density EVA core is not the only difference between this model and the conventional Metheora Warrior - this model also has an additional layer of 3K carbon fiber on the surface.
Note: 3K carbon fiber is the hardest commonly used in padel rackets.
This racket is hard. In fact, it’s the hardest round racket we’ve ever played with. It is noticeably harder than the Varlion LW Summum Prisma Airflow.
When you are on fire, you will place the ball into any 10 square centimeters of the court, when you miss the sweet spot, you will place the ball into any 10 square centimeters of the net.
It has very low ball output.
Despite its balance - our model measured 26.2 centimeters and 367 grams with one overgrip and a protector - the hardness gives it a surprising combination of power and maneuverability. When you contact the ball in the center of the sweet spot, BOOM!
We’ve always been major fans of Starvie’s approach and we heartily recommend this racket for those willing to tolerate its two major drawbacks:
- Small sweet spot
- A LOT of vibrations
One note on the vibrations, I’ve never felt any elbow pain from vibrations before playing with this racket. Be careful. When I missed the sweet spot, it felt like I was trying to hold onto cold, vibrating metal poles. I do not recommend this racket for those with a fear of vibrations.
Lastly, it has Starvie’s Full Plane Effect roughness of 2 millimeter reliefs in the shape of the Starvie star logo. Same as most Starvies. Good spin.
Reviewers note: the racket was tested in comparison with other control rackets - Bullpadel Ionic Control, Adipower CTRL 3.2 - at 25°C.
