Adidas Metalbone Carbon CTRL

7.4 / 10

Best for: A good racket for intermediate versatile players seeking a racket for all around the court - more power than I expected. Very different from the Metalbone Carbon from 2023. Medium, dry hardness. Test model weighs 359g and balances at 26.2cm.

Pros

  • A good racket for intermediate versatile players seeking a racket for all around the court - more power than I expected. Very different from the Metalbone Carbon from 2023. Medium, dry hardness. Test model weighs 359g and balances at 26.2cm.
  • The power is quite good - above average, definitely more than I expected. The racket doesn't absorb the ball much in smashes.
  • At low, medium speeds, the racket stays in control quite well, but at faster speeds the racket, you need to be careful not to shoot the ball into the wall as the foam is quite reactive. I don't know why, but I found it really easy to put a lot of spin on the ball.

Cons

  • Standard-sized sweet spot. Note that if you hit the ball center in the sweet spot the foam is a lot more reactive outside of the center - if you miss the sweet spot, the ball does and the racket vibrates a lot. I notice this the most in the aerial game and in blocks.

In the defense, it moves really well. In the aerial game, it’s easy to maneuver - it doesn’t tire my arm. I felt very fast in volley duels at the net.
